The Tukums Art Museum is well known for its outstanding collection of art, which began to be assembled during the first half of the 1930s by the artist Leonīds Āriņš.  He inspired many other distinguished Latvian artists to donate their own artworks to the museum.  The Tukums Museum continues to maintain the collection principles which Āriņš established.

The collection includes more than 500 paints and some 300 examples of graphic art from the late 19th century to the present day.  Most represent the genre of Modernism in Latvian art.  The museum regularly offers exhibitions to allow people to learn about its rich collection.  These include artworks from other museums and private collections, as well.
